Pros:

• Excellent quality and clean rooms and facilities
• Beautiful views of the mountains from room and onsen
• Nest Bar is a highlight beautifully designed with warm floors and gorgeous set up
• Excellent food and variety daily,
  including lively snack bar and station
• Great theatre entertainment , and wave pool
• Extremely friendly staff - shoutout to John and his wonderful performances and making sure everyone has a great time at the resort overall beyond just the entertainment, Milka our favourite bar staff who is super sweet and warm to us, Rodo our ski instructor who despite being given huge class sizes makes sure we all take away personal advice and improvements, and Wardana for going out of his way to help me with my luggage in the snow even though front desk staff says I can’t receive any help

Considerations

• no slippers given in room - we asked for it and received only after a couple of hours
• ski classes were way too big and chaotic - 13-16 people daily and unable to get meaningful improvements and advice even thought the instructors were wonderful and try their very best
• older setup of room - separate toilet with no sink, no power outlet near the bed, and bathtub with shower curtain for shower, and very limited tv channels
• Very rushed checkin that left us as first timers very confused - i didn’t even know my room required me to manually turn on the heater and we froze for first 4 nights

Tip - if you book hoshino resort liner to transfer to airport - the shuttle bus only picks you up at ski departure in the snow with no luggage storage - you have to drag your luggage through the snow with the skiers and freeze in the wind waiting for it. If you want any comfort don’t book this for departure. Wardana was kind enough to help us with the luggage but reception had advised we aren’t allowed any help initially.

We visited Club Med Tomamu in Hokkaido in mid-March for a ski holiday, traveling with my spouse and our child who was not yet two years old. From the moment we arrived, the resort made everything feel easy and comfortable, which is exactly what you hope for when traveling as a family.

The facilities are impressive. Everything felt modern, clean, and well maintained, and our room was surprisingly spacious. The overall indoor environment was warm and cozy, so even though we were in snowy Hokkaido, we rarely felt cold. The transitions between areas were short and convenient, and the shuttle ride from the airport was well organized and comfortable, with pleasant temperature control throughout.

One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the food. The dining experience exceeded expectations in both variety and quality, and the service was consistently excellent. A special mention goes to the restaurant manager, Ivo, whose warmth and attentiveness truly made our trip memorable. They were incredibly kind to our child, always patient, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It became a daily ritual for our child to look forward to seeing them.

For skiing, this resort is extremely beginner-friendly while still offering options for more advanced skiers. Equipment rental was convenient and the gear felt new and well cared for. The slopes include a good range of difficulty levels, and the snow conditions were wonderful. The powder snow was soft and forgiving, which made learning much less intimidating. I also highly recommend booking a private lesson. The progress can be dramatic, and it really enhanced our experience on the mountain.

Practical details were handled well too. The locker and changing facilities were thoughtful and efficient, and after gearing up, it was easy to access the ski area directly. The on-snow locker area also had essentials like drinking water and restrooms, which made the day smoother.

Overall, Club Med Tomamu delivered an outstanding ski holiday: excellent facilities, amazing food, and a genuinely caring international team. It was a joyful and deeply satisfying week for our family, and we would gladly return.

Our first family ski trip in Hokkaido. We enjoyed it tremendously, the view is spectacular, the snow is fluffy. It was our 7-yr-old's first experience in the snow and she couldn't get enough of it.
The room was spacious and very tidy and clean. I love how they have adequate closet space to hang all our coats and winter gear. The DHC amenities are wonderful as well. I don't usually use hotel amenities because they can sometimes be a little harsh on my sensitive skin but I tried these and didn't cause any reaction! The smell was wonderful too, I wish they have it for sale!
The evening shows by the children and the staff were also great! The acrobatics were impressive and our whole family definitely enjoyed them all!!
Our daughter enjoyed the mini club activities and didn't make a big fuss about being left there. She usually takes a bit of time to warm up to strangers but she enjoyed herself from the very first day. GOs Grace, Arri and Sarah were so helpful and very attentive to the children's needs. The way I saw all the GOs interact with the children was impressive! 👏 👏 They got our daughter to familiarize herself with skiing an she was able to make stops and a bit of turns on the 4th day. Some children took less time but each child is different. The fact that they made it enjoyable for the kids made it easier on us as the children are much less reluctant to join the mini club activities. Our daughter loved to interact with the mini club GO and ski instructors when she saw them around the facilities as well.
My husband is an intermediate skiier but I had very little experience on ski and never had formal instructions so I joined the group lessons on my 1st day. I was lucky enough to be in Chris' group. Even with a group of 10, his instructions were detailed for us all to follow and he was attentive to each of us. I enjoyed his lessons so much that my husband and I decided to book private lessons with Chris on our 2nd day onward. By our third lesson, I was comfortable enough with the blue bit on the green route and as soon as my daughter was able to make stops and turns, we had her join in the lesson as well. Chris got her to ski with such confidence, she was beaming with joy. She was even able to ski down the blue bit at the end of the session! By the end of the trip, she was skiing confidently and was asking to come back next year!
Overall, the GOs and staff provided excellent customer service. Even the restaurant and housekeeping staff were friendly and tried to accommodate all our requests. We were very impressed by the level of customer service by everyone there, I can definitely say that it is top-notch and will definitely come back next year.

Main highlight is definitely snowboard instructor CAI. Strongly recommend him for private class if you want to up your game. Super easy instructions, he demonstrates it and is right with you as you try to do it. Gives you a peace of mind as you learn. Really helped me so much to gain control in a fun way, definitely gonna look for him again the next time too :) thank you Cai from Wales! It’s me Snow

I had a great snowboard lesson with Cai at Club Med Tomamu. His explanations were very clear and easy to follow, which made it much easier for a beginner like me to understand the basics. He was extremely patient and encouraging throughout the class, creating a comfortable environment to learn and try new things.

Cai also shared many useful tips that really helped improve my confidence on the snowboard. What I appreciated most was how he made the lesson fun and entertaining while still focusing on the key techniques. It never felt stressful, and I enjoyed every moment of the class.

I would definitely recommend Cai to anyone starting snowboarding or looking to build a strong foundation. Thank you for such a great and memorable lesson!
