Already booking for next year.
This was our fourth ClubMed ski trip, though first at La Plagne. An excellent start as the transfer which was part of our package was a minibus just for the six of our family group plus a friend. No hanging about waiting for others who had gone for a quick smoke.
A very easy check in as we had done it online, room not ready but we were several hours ahead of official room availability.
Our room was conveniently close to the lift, as I had requested. The rooms are opened by holding a little plastic tag which is on a ribbon bracelet against the lock. A brilliant idea in theory but you need to be a contortionist to twist your wrist to get the tag against the lock. On the other hand the corridor was brightly lit, none of those infuriating French timers turning lights off just when you are trying to open your door.
Our three rooms were fine, nice views, warm and plenty of storage space, especially when we discovered the under bed drawers. Ridiculous coat hangers, too wide for the space allowed in the wardrobe.
Our door was very hard to open from the inside, in fact impossible for me, an ancient granny. Had there been a fire I could not have escaped, a very serious safety hazard. But Jimmy appeared and spent a lot of time trying to fix it with limited success, then he appeared the next day and after what seemed like major work I could eventually open the door. Hats off to Jimmy, a great guy, thank you!
The meals were excellent. Lots of choice, changing daily. Very comprehensive breakfasts, including Marmite, a substance beloved by Brits. As there were by now ten of us a table was kept for us. The waiting staff were very efficient and friendly. We were very happy with the house wine. As well as proper meals the snacks on offer throughout the day were much appreciated.
I don’t understand complaints about slow service at the bar. There was minimal waiting, the staff took a lot of trouble in making and mixing drinks. We were very happy.
The large sitting area was very noisy. An excellent saxophone player but he played at excessive volume, conversation was difficult. A great magician, baffling sleight of hand, entertained seated groups.
On sunny days it was good to sit out on the terrace with drinks and snacks though we very much missed Willy, the entertainer/compère who does such a great job at Serre Chevalier.
Our 7 year old grandson really loved his fourth season at ski school; in previous years he had been rather reluctant . It was a delight to see his confidence and skills improving so rapidly with ESF here. The rest of our skiers also enjoyed the guiding and instruction.
Then on our last day my husband was quite ill, partly possibly due to altitude or, as the hotel doctor thought, a virus but mainly because he had somehow failed to pack enough of a vital medicine.
A trip to the medical centre in town produced a prescription but the pharmacy did not have it, though they kindly tracked some down in Bourg St Maurice.
Asking the ClubMed Receptionist Devin about taxis to Bourg, he said he was going to Bourg himself and offered to pick up the prescription.
We were so grateful, several wasted hours and a very expensive taxi saved. He appeared with the medicine but absolutely refused to let us give him any cash to compensate for his time and trouble.
Devin saved the end of the holiday and the journey home for us. He is a star and I hope the management appreciate him.
So, a great holiday, Erick the club boss does a wonderful job as do his friendly staff, many thanks to them, and a disastrous end was avoided, thanks to you Devin! .

La Plagne Ski holiday - solo
My first ever solo holiday! Daunting but easy. Club Med is superbly well organised and as ski lessons are part of the package I knew I would at least have people to ski with.
All aspects of the holiday were excellent, the organization, the friendliness of staff, the efficiency of the whole place catering for so many. The food is excellent and there is attention to detail. I see the occasional negative review on here and sometimes wonder where people’s expectations come from. My bag was delivered to my room, but if for some reason they were over busy I would take my own bag to my room, not complain about it. The staff to a person went out of their way to say hello and greet everyone even if just passing on the corridor.
It would be fair to say that the rooms are fairly compact, but again, somewhere to sleep and shower and nothing to complain about - spotlessly clean, good quality products available in room etc.
The food here is absolutely amazing / don’t expect to come here and lose weight because of all the skiing you do!
The skiing of course is excellent as high and also ski in ski out and the ESF lessons and organisation is also incredible.
All in all cannot fault the value for money and effort made by all to deliver an excellent holiday.

Good choice for family ski holiday
Good travel arrangements with not much waiting around. Hotel slightly jaded and in need of an update, but still comfortable. Sunday arrival and departure convenient as less busy than a Saturday. Friendly helpful staff, Room cleaning could have been better. Food and drinks included, excellent quality and plenty of choice. Mini Club excellent, and dealt well with reluctant 5 year old. Gave us the chance to have stress free days and as much skiing as we wanted. La Plagne has good choice of easy runs for my disabled daughter and ageing self, although the slopes were very busy early February.
